The stated ambition of this book, which should be read together with its male version, The Declaration of the Rights of Fathers, is to “fight against stereotypes related to parental roles (Mothers: “The right to protest and rebel when they receive meaningless gifts such as household appliances” / Fathers: “The right to cry for a film or when they feel great pain”). If the texts of the fifteen articles are short, the extravagant and dynamic illustrations help to make the clichés even more ridiculous. Some articles lightly go further in affirming the rights of parents to fulfil themselves beyond their children (“the right to prefer an evening with friends to puppets with children”).
