A creative writing contest involving several secondary school classes in the six partner countries was held as part of G-BOOK 2. The contest was organized in two parts. Using the new G-BOOK 2 bibliography for 11–14-year-olds as a starting point, the classes involved were offered two introductory meetings on the project, bibliography, gender issues, and sexist stereotypes, followed by three creative writing workshops with professional children’s / YA literature writers. Following these meetings, the students wrote a short narrative text of about 800 words, individually, in pairs, or in small groups, on the themes of equality, equal opportunity, and respect for diversity. The entries were evaluated in each country by a technical and a popular jury. The winning stories were then translated into all project languages and are collected in a volume, while all the other stories are published on the project website. In addition, during autumn 2022, the winning stories were illustrated by adopting various artistic and multimedia forms by students from the other partner countries, thus promoting the transnational circulation of the stories and themes covered by the project. The results of the art workshops are published on the project website.
