Loveless

Summary:

Dating + sex = love. Or does it? Georgia has never been in love, but as a true romantic obsessed with fan fiction, she believes she will find the right person one day. When she gets to college, she has a great opportunity to do so. But while relationships come easily to others, she doesn’t know what to do. And as previously unknown labels emerge before her—asexual, aromantic—she feels increasingly uncertain. Is she really doomed to a life without love? Or has she been looking for something other than what she should be looking for all along?

Comment:

Loveless explores the themes of asexuality and aromanticism in a university setting. The introspective and emotive storytelling makes it easy for the reader to relate to the main character and get insight into what an aromantic/asexual young adult goes through in a heteronormative, sex- and relationship-attuned society. Through light and funny dialogue, as well as deep inner monologue, the reader gets to see what asexuality and aromanticism are, and how it feels to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community in the 21st century.
